Volunteer of the Year Awards
In 2011, Russell Campbell became Volunteer of the Year in recognition for his hard work in the community. Russell has been involved in a wide range of voluntary work including helping out at Islay House Community Garden, and assisting and supporting the Mactaggart Leisure Centre’s Aquacare warm water therapy and 50+ lunch target group sessions. Russell has autism and has overcome considerable barriers to develop a range of social and practical skills that enable him to make a significant contribution to his community. He is renowned for his level of commitment, his tenacity in completing tasks and his willingness to take on any job. All who come into contact with him, both staff and members of the public, enjoy his company and comment on Russell’s increased confidence since getting involved in these activities. |
