| VOLUNTARY ACTION FUND |
| The Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) is an independent funding body, which gives grants to voluntary and community based organisations throughout Scotland. Since 1982, VAF has shown that small cash injections combined with support and organisational development activities can bring amazing rewards. This includes the creation of the Women’s Aid Network and the building of the foundations of what is now the CVS network in Scotland thanks to a succession of small grants. The Voluntary Action Fund was also one of the first organisations to work with those with mental health issues, the unemployed, vulnerable families and the homeless. | LEADER |
| LEADER is a grants programme, which aims to support local businesses, farmers, foresters, community groups and those involved in tourism and a range of rural enterprises. Grant money comes from the European Agricultural Fund and LEADER acts as liaison between the fund and project organisers in the local area. The funds are distributed through the Local Action Group, a board of volunteer governors who oversee and make the final decisions on the grant allocation.
